Advantages
Conventional rearview mirror
When it’s raining or foggy, you can’t see very well. The heated exterior mirrors are nice, but they don’t do much to fix the problem.
Driving at night can be tough too. If another car's headlights are really bright, it can blind you for a moment and make things dangerous.
There’s also the blind spot issue. Regular rearview mirrors let you see cars behind you, but they don't help you gauge how far away they are. Plus, you might miss seeing pedestrians, bikes, or other small stuff nearby.
Digital Side View Monitors
The electronic rearview mirror is less impacted by weather conditions. All it needs is a hydrophobic and waterproof lens, and the rest is handled by an algorithm and the car's display.
It also reduces light issues. Thanks to the night vision feature, you can still see in low light. Plus, if there’s a lot of light coming from behind, like a high beam at night, the glare can be minimized with algorithms.
You also get a wider view. Unlike traditional mirrors that have a fixed shape and size, electronic rearview mirrors use different sensors and cameras positioned at various angles to give you more images.
System Performance
1. This system runs on a B+ power supply and an ACC signal, giving you reliable quality and performance.
2. The cameras on either side of the vehicle capture images of the road, which get turned into high-definition video signals at 1080P@60fps and sent to the main control unit.
3. The camera and electronic rearview mirror keep working while you drive, providing quick video imaging.
